Happy Wednesday, fellow reading addicts!

Around the time you’ll be receiving this email, I’ll be having my eyes looked at by a specialist to make sure the medication I’m on isn’t affecting them. I hate people poking my eyes and still need to get a regular eye exam for glasses, but dilation just is unfriendly. It also means I can’t read or work for a few hours after it’s done. I guess that leaves housework or napping. I think napping would be best.

I’ve contacted all the winners from the contest where we asked people to update their settings. I haven’t heard from three of you. Please check your email and see if you got a message and respond please. :)

My book-related question for the day. Do you read thrillers? If so, who is your favorite thriller writer and what is your favorite thriller novel?

There are a bunch of great boxed sets, a free book and a discounted thriller below. Check them out. I may just have to get the anthology of cat stories. It’s only fitting.

Enjoy and happy reading!

When one door closes for the young witch, Raven Alby, she’ll kick open another one.

Raven is graduating from Fowler Academy with her fierce red dragon, Leander by her side.

She is taking on the responsibilities of a WarMage – just like her late mother – and has joined the kingdom’s army corps and their fleet of dragons.

Time to get ready for whatever the world throws at Raven and her homeland, the kingdom of Lomberdoon.

Something is affecting the dragons, wild and tame. A few have turned up crazed, spitting fire and ice, right before they die. Did the creepy crawly monsters that once plagued the kingdom leave one last poisonous gift behind?

Can the corps’ veterinarian, Dr. Welby find out what’s causing it and create a cure before it’s too late?

And Raven’s grandfather, Connor, has gone missing. Can her frenemy, Bella and her private company track him down for Raven – in exchange for a favor, of course.

Things are changing in the land of Lomberdoon and battles may be on the horizon. Who will stand with Raven and Leander?

You have been marked by the algorithm as a threat to national security.

You are under arrest.

Your peripheral nervous system is now under the jurisdiction of the United States Bureau of Prisons.

You have been charged with attempted terrorism and found guilty.

The judgment of the algorithm is final.

Algorithm (Book 1):

Nanovax was supposed to be our salvation.
Death and disease, now obsolete.
Until the terrorist attack. Fifteen cities in a single day.
Again, they said Nanovax was the answer.
The same technology meant to heal us could now be used, through an algorithm, to track us, to predict human behaviors…
To thwart future terrorists.
I’m Lieutenant Brian Goff. I received the first injection.
It healed my wounds in the war. I became the face of Nanovax…
Then, the algorithm identified me as a threat… a terrorist…
Now, I’m on the run and fighting against the very technology that once saved my life… and if that wasn’t frightening enough…
The government has my daughter.

Nanoswarm (Book 2):

The nanonetwork has been upgraded.
I can still access the nanobots…
But when I do, it leaves the host unconscious. Transferring their mind into the nanoswarm.
Dr. Archimedes Flat is expanding his nanoverse. Collecting minds to craft a new “utopia” forged from collective memory.
He believes it’s the next step in human evolution.
And if a few people have to die to make it happen, well, in his mind that’s nothing more than the survival of the fittest.
If I’m going to stop him, I’ll have to fight him in the nanoverse itself.
But Flat designed the nanoverse. He’s it’s architect. The god of his digital world.
How can I possibly defeat the maker of the nanoverse from within his own creation? After all, in the nanoverse, Flat makes all the rules.

Posthuman (Book 3):

I’m losing myself in the nanoverse…
Am I even human anymore?
So many connections… so many people…
But where am I?
The resistance has been attacked.
How can I even fight back if I can’t find myself?
I’ll have to enter the nanonetwork myself…
If I can’t set up a firewall to protect my identity…
I’ll be lost forever.

Nanowar (Book 4):

The enemy has learned how to replicate in the nanoverse.
His plan remains the same.
To usher in the next chapter of human evolution. To convert all of humanity into a digital species, inhabiting a digital world.
The government has fallen.
The resistance is in turmoil.
If I’m going to save humanity I have no choice but to destroy the nanoverse.
But can I do that without also destroying myself?

A dying pet gets a new life through cybernetics—but will his humans accept a robocat?

Defrosted kittens run amok.

Chocolate kitties from Mars change from delicious treats to something a little different.

A Siamese detective fingers—or paws—a burglar. An alien furball lands on a cat-hater’s doorstop.

A kitten’s gift to the Christ child gets rejected, but that’s not the end of this cat’s journey.

A sphynx pussyfoots through a wormhole and finds his soulmate on the other side, narrowly escaping death.

A fisherman crosses a tiger kami and is transformed into a legend.

Angels dye a kitten purple and give it wings, but these do not serve it well when it plunges to Earth in the path of a speeding eighteen wheeler.

And, in a Nebula nominee, an extinct cat is revived from ancient fossil material and innocently rampages in a rural Ohio township.

A fun page-turner for fans of felines!

The Night They Came Home

From John A. Russo, the master of horror and co-creator of Night of the Living Dead, comes the horrifying telling of a story based on true life events.

The Rufus Buck Gang is best known for a near month-long rampage of rape and murder back in 1895. Russo’s telling of the story sticks faithfully to the facts as they have come to be known.

Young boy Tommy Palmer’s whole family is nearly wiped out in the Buck rampage, and thus begins his quest to save what’s left of his kin and exact some measure of justice on the outlaws who perpetrated the heinous crimes. He teams up, by sheer coincidence, with a notorious lawman and a legendary hangman, both hellbent for their own reasons on stopping the Buck Gang before the body count gets even higher.

What follows is a chilling account of depravity and a grim western-style dose of justice coupled with the amazing resiliency of the human spirit.
