Happy Wednesday, fellow reading addicts!
The last days of March are here! It’s hard to believe the first quarter of the year is behind us and we’re moving into the second quarter. Unless things drastically change in the world, I will be traveling for a week or two (or more) each of the next three quarters. I can’t wait.
First I’ll be going to London. Next up is 3-ish weeks in Australia, then a little more than a week in Vegas and possibly other travel depending on what needs to be done and where. I am looking forward to a little bit of downtime (don’t worry, you’ll still hear from me) and catching up on my absolutely MASSIVE to-be-read pile.
I guarantee a couple of this week’s books have already been added to that pile. Check out this week’s books below and let me know what you think of them!
We’re hoping we can get a helping hand from all of our readers. If you have a few minutes, click the UPDATE SETTINGS button at the very bottom of this email and update the genres you read as well as any other information you want to add. If you take a screenshot and send it to me by April 25, 2022, you’ll be entered to win a $25 Amazon Gift Card. How cool is that? If you already sent it in, you should get a confirmation in the next day or two and many thanks to those who sent screenshots to me!
Enjoy and happy reading!

Keeper of the Water
My name is Jenna Solitaire and everything I thought I knew about myself, my family, and my future is wrong. My life is not my own. It never has been. I just didn’t know it―until now…
Having mastered the power of the Board of Air, Jenna travels to Jerusalem to find the Board of Water. She is accompanied by Simon Monk, who seeks the Boards on behalf of the Vatican.
Jenna doesn’t trust Simon, but he’s her only source of information about the Boards.
In Jerusalem, Jenna meets Saduj, a local guide who claims he can help them find the Board they seek. Simon is suspicious, but Jenna finds herself strangely attracted to Saduj.
Jenna must find the Board before it awakens and causes unimaginable destruction. But will she lose her heart—and possibly her life—in the process?
“An intriguing and trendy concept certain to appeal to teen readers.”—Booklist on Keeper of the Winds
“This compelling fantasy ends with a definite expectation of a sequel.”—School Library Journal on Keeper of the Winds
“Jenna Solitaire is an exciting new presence… Bring it on, Jenna!”—Nancy Holder, author of Queen of the Slayers and Pretty Little Devils, on Keeper of the Winds
“The first installment in the Daughter of Destiny series, this fast-paced book can easily be read in an afternoon. Jenna’s struggle to decide whom she can and cannot rely on will strike a chord with the reader, as will Jenna’s reluctant attraction to Simon, a mysterious stranger who claims that he is trying to help Jenna learn about the board. The author strikes a good balance between action sequences and moments of introspection on Jenna’s part….Recommended for all libraries with substantial teen fantasy collections. (4Q/4P/J/S)”—Voices of Youth Advocates

In Honor Bound
In 1917, three law school graduates are on their way to register for the draft in World War I. En route to the recruiting office, they meet classmate J. Edgar Hoover, who invites them all to join him in the U.S. Department of Justice, thereby serving their country without facing death in the trenches. Two—Aloysius Gantt and Declan O’Hara—agree, while the third, Gregory Jordan, goes on to join the U.S. Marines.
On the home front, Gantt and O’Hara join in roundups of suspected draft dodgers and later, while Jordan is hospitalized for wounds suffered at Belleau Wood, they follow Hoover’s lead into the Palmer raids, deporting alleged alien radicals to Russia.
