Happy Wednesday, fellow reading addicts!
As mentioned last week, I purchased new appliances. I haven’t purchased new appliances in 20+ years. The last “new” appliances I purchased was back shortly after I got married and we bought a washer and dryer for our apartment. That washer and dryer eventually died and we moved into an apartment complex with washer and dyers, so we didn’t have to buy new ones. Then when we bought our house, it came with a washer and dryer. THose were easy enough to figure out, but the new washer/dryer/dishwasher is requiring me to actually READ the books to understand how to do stuff.
It’s not bad, mind you, but it’s boring.
One thing I learned, for example (that I never knew before this new machine) was that there is a FILTER inside the dishwasher you’re supposed to clean out. SURPRISE! This was never mentioned at any of the apartments we lived at and I never knew they came through and did maintenance. You would think this would be something you would be told. There’s also ways to save wash cycles for the washer and dishwasher so you can just pull it up on your phone and tell it when to start.
I still have plenty of reading to do before I use the washer, but it will be done this week! It definitely wasn’t the exciting type of reading. I’d much rather be reading books like the ones below. That is way more exciting!
We have some exciting sales for you this week, including 5 new releases all priced at 99 cents. Talk about a sweet deal. And there are even a few free books too. Check them out below!
Enjoy and happy reading!

Claire Hinterland and Penny Hingston might be attending classes on opposite sides of the country, but they share something in common: they can see the ancient beings from myth and legend that are coming through the veil. Which results in both attending classes at Unveiled Academy.
Get both the Penny and Boots Complete Series Omnibus AND Paranormal University Complete Series Omnibus – 8 books total – to attend class and find out how to protect themselves and the world from these creatures.
At the University of Paranormal Studies, class is starting.
Claire just received her letter of acceptance despite the fact that she didn’t apply. Why does the university want her?
Because ghosts, vampires, werewolves, elves, dragons…They exist, and more are crossing into our world every day. The problem? Many of them want to kill us.
Claire has a rare ability to actually see these creatures. See? Heck, her best friend is a drunk leprechaun.
Coming from a small town, Claire thought her future prospects were flipping chicken at the local fast food joint. Now she’s traveling to Boston, where she’ll learn how to fight this ‘mythological invasion’. She never thought she’d be in a class called Vampires 101 but…
Claire’s a soldier in this new war – she will be humanity’s most dangerous asset.
And if Claire and her classmates fail? If they don’t learn fast enough and fight hard enough?
Well, graduation won’t matter too much when the world is reduced to ashes.
Penny and Boots:
Not everyone can see the ancient beings from myth and legend as they slip through the veil.
Penny Hingston can’t just see them… she’s best friends with one.
Perhaps that’s how Penny and Boots landed a recruitment letter for the Academy of Myth and Legend.
Who’s Boots? She’s a serpent. Not just any serpent — she’s a Rainbow Serpent, an ancient Australian Dreamtime legend come to life. It’s actually not so unusual these days. Mythical creatures are tumbling through the Veil every two seconds. The Academy not only teaches its students how to fight the bad ones, but to protect the good ones as well.
That’s why Penny joined. She’s only there to make sure Boots stays safe. Once she figures out a plan, she’s out. At least, that’s what she’s trying to convince herself — and her new friends, including Cisco. It’s only a coincidence that Penny blushes when he talks to her, really!
Five short novels by five masters of military science fiction.
It’s a war out there.
In these pulse-pounding tales, the best (or worst) soldiers in the galaxy are pitted against powerful aliens on distant battlefields. Never before published stories about monsters, deadly combat tech, treachery, and honor:
Big Plush by Aaron Allston (a novella from the Action Figures series)—The Dollgangers, artificial people made in mankind’s image, take up arms in a desperate bid to win their freedom.
Comrades in Arms by Kevin J. Anderson—A damaged cyborg soldier and an enemy alien fighter turn their backs on the war and try to escape. But the human and alien governments can’t tolerate the two deserters working together, so they join forces to hunt them down.
Shores of the Infinite by Loren L. Coleman (a novella from the ICAS File series)—Separated from command & control, Combat Assault Suit troopers force a beachhead to liberate a new planet from the cyborg threat.
The Black Ship by B.V. Larson (a mech novella from the Imperium Series)—A human settlement on the deadliest planet ever colonized clings to life … but today new invaders are coming down from the stars.
Out There by Michael A. Stackpole—The Qian have discovered humanity and welcomed them into their star-spanning empire. The benefits they offer humanity are many, and they don’t want much in return: just the best human pilots available to take apart a most diabolical enemy.
Kaylin Ramirez has been framed for the heist of the Virtue of War—an elite alien weapon with the power to destabilize the universe. She faces death if she doesn’t return this legendary weapon.
How can she return what she doesn’t have? She’ll have to steal it from the actual thieves.
Now she’s racing against time to retrieve the Virtue, but the odds promise almost certain death.
Can Kaylin pull off the near-impossible counter-heist of a lifetime? Or will she and the universe pay her nefarious rival’s ultimate price?
Virtue of War is a sci-fi adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Supernatural beings are willing to fight for their legal rights!
Since the Summer of Love, the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco has been known for attracting weird and unconventional souls, but things got even stranger when the monsters moved in.
Magic has returned to the world and with it a host of supernatural creatures—not just vampires and ghosts, but sentient gargoyles, ghouls, sprites, faeries, and more. The frightened citizenry, holier-than-thou bigots, headline-seeking reporters, and harried police refer to them as OTs (Other-Than-Humans), but Thomas Brock and Evelyn Love believe even supernatural creatures have legal rights.
Delve into their case files for a genre-bending mix of mystery, horror, suspense, thrills, courtroom drama, and romance. The city’s OT element is sometimes malevolent, sometimes misunderstood, and often discriminated against. Brock and Love represent them all, dead, undead, or alive—whatever the case, whatever the species.

But as the conflict rages, the two warriors realize they have more in common than they dare to admit, and their own codes of honor may be what can bring the bloodshed to an end.
If they don’t kill each other first.
US Army and Marine Corps veterans Richard Fox and Jonathan Brazee write the grueling head-to-head action in this military science fiction war novel.
